Mammoth Mountain Snow Conditions for November 23, 2010

Another cold storm is hitting Mammoth Mountain Ski Area just in time for Thanksgiving. They now have a 4-7 foot base, and it is going to be great skiing over the Thanksgiving Holiday. If you don’t have plans to come to Mammoth, cancel your plans and come up right now. The skiing is powder and packed powder everywhere.

Now let’s get to the Mammoth Mountain Weather. The winds are strong today, and the cloud ceiling is low so visibility is poor. If you get out today, I recommend the gondola. Alot of people forget about the gondola, and on really cold days it can be a nice place to thaw out. The gondola is only going to to McCoy station, but that will give you several run from which to choose.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I think the skiing is going to be epic. Winds are predicted to be down, and probably 1-2 feet of cold, light, fresh powder should be ready for shredding on top of the 4-7 foot base. I hope Mammoth Mountain can staff up to get all the chairs going so there are short lift lines by tomorrow’s opening of Eagle and Canyon Lodges.
