Mammoth Mountain Snow Report Dec. 29, 2010

This is the daily snow report prepared for Mammoth Ski Club members. The good news is Mammoth Mountain Ski Area got 2-3 feet of new snow over the last 24 hours. That adds to make Mammoth’s snow base 11-18′. The National Weather Service predicts there will be a high of 26 F, and a low of 4 F. They predict a 100% chance of snow today, and a 20% chance tonight. The radar loop shows the bulk of the moisture is already by us. There are only scatered showers left for Mammoth Lakes weather today.

The winds in Mammoth Lakes are out of the SSE at 16 mph with gusts to 52 mph. The wind guage on chair 1 shows consistent winds of 35 with gusts to 65. Again today loooks like an “ugly wind day” at Mammoth. When you factor in the wind chill to the high temperature, it would be the effective temperature of -10 to -40 or more below 0. better bundle up if you plan to ski today.

Tomorrow is the day I’m targeting with the winds predicted to be 10 mph. I’m just happy we got more new snow to add to our tremendous snowpack. See You Tomorrow On the Slopes!
