Mammoth Mountain Ski Report April 13, 2011 for Mammoth Ski Club

Mammoth Mountain Ski resort has a 14-24 foot base with no new snow in the last 24 hours. The Natinoal Weather Service forecasts a 30% chance of snow today, and a partly cloudy forecast for Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The temperatures are forecasted to be a High of 31 and a Low of 21 F today.

There is some moisture on the local radar represented in scattered blue dots. The winds are up today with the chair 1 tower 9 wind gauge showing erratic winds averaging 20 mph with gusts to 70 mph. Today will be a good day to hide from the wind on the sheltered side of the mountain.

The skiing is great at Mammoth Mountain. I skied 3 of the last 4 days, and had a blast every day. Mammoth’s best assett is the wind-blown powder aftrer a storm, and the winds today should move the light powder around into drifts if you know where to look.

I plan to share some photos I took last week tomorrow in my ski report. If you haven’t entered the drawing for the FREE Mammoth Season Pass yet, go to www.MammothSkiClub.com¬†and enter today.
