Mammoth Mountain Ski Report June 16, 2011 for Mammoth Ski Club

The temperatures are warm and the snow base is thick at 9-18′. Daytime temps are about 65 F and Lows are in the 40’s. This time of year there is a 2 hour window when the skiing is fun before it gets too soft.

The biggest news I can relate to you is the Parks department announced yesterday that they anticipate opening Tioga Pass (aka the back gate to Yosemite) on June 18th. That works our perfectly for me as I have my reservations in the Presidential Suite at the Heidelburg Innn from June 18th -25th.

I’m picking up 2 archival photos of Mammoth Mountain at Dave McCoy’s home this morning. One is an aerial shot of Mammoth Mountain before any runs were cut. The other one is also an aerial shot of an exceptionally heavy snow year. I love having Dave McCoy’s photos on my walls, and if you love Mammoth the way I do, you will to. To order some of Dave McCoy’s photos go to www.DaveMcCoyPhoto.com and order your favorites.

I’ll have lots of pictures to share after my vacation. If you haven’t entered the drawing for the FREE Mammoth Season Pass yet, go to www.MammothSkiClub.com and enter now. My next ski report will be when I ski next, probably on Sunday.
